3 Still Available for Adoption

I have three female Husky/Malamute mix available for adoption. They are all on a monthly regiment of Iverheart and Advantix.







Sissy is very skittish. She is afraid of new people. She will require someone that can come out everyday to visit with her and allow her to get to know them. She loves attention and once she gets to know someone she will come up right away for some loving. She is almost 1 year old, weighs 78lbs, is current on all vaccinations, spayed and heart worm free. She walks on a leash, but will pull sometimes. She is ready to be adopted once she finds that special person that is willing to come get to know her.





Miss Floppy loves to play and will nip at you to get you to play with her. She is the instigator of all the games! She loves to be chased. She will want a playmate. She walks with her tail curled up over her back when she is happy. She is almost 1 year old, weighs 74 lbs, is current on all vaccinations and heart worm free. She is scheduled for spaying on 3/11/10. Miss Floppy has a heart mummer due to VSD and an aortic stenosis, which was a birth defect. This will require close monitoring by a vet every 6 months. She walks really good on a leash and will be available for adoption 3/23/10.



Momma is very camera shy, it is hard to get a good photo of her! Like Miss Floppy, she loves to play and has a gentle nature. She is indoor trained, rides good in a car and get along well with other dogs. She will want a playmate as well and she loves to go on long walks. She is about 2 years old, weighs 75 lbs, is current on all vaccinations and is scheduled for spaying on 3/11/10. She is heart worm positive and will be starting her heart worm treatments 3/24/10, if my finances will allow.

New Home for Pop

A wonderful family came to adopt Pop last week. It is a large family and he is their only "baby". They give him lots of love and enjoy playing with him.

They have been giving him time to get used to them, 4 adults, 4 children. Since he seems to be feeling more comfortable, they are ready to begin his heart worm treatments.

They really do love him alot and want to have him around a long time. I will update his progress and photos as I get them.

New Home for Red

Red went to his new home on February 21st. He really seemed to like the large backyard and his new playmate! She is a German shepherd, pit bull mix.

When I first unleashed Red, he pranced around the yard like an Arabian horse, head held high and tail curled up over his back.

His new owners have been taking him and his playmate out for walks and Red has taken his position as protector of the yard.

Although I really do miss him, I believe he is happy in his new home.

Rescue Efforts for Miss Floppy

Miss Floppy got her name when a large tick attached itself to her right ear when she was a pup. The ear flopped over from the weight of it. She was still living out in the woods and would not allow me to touch her so I could not remove it. By the time she was letting me pet her, the tick was gone. The ear took a while but it recovered and no longer flops over.

Her fur is not as long and thick as her brother's and her coat is whiter. She also walks with her tail curled over her back. She loves to play and will nip at me when I go into the pen to get me to play with her. She likes to play "can't get me" with her brother and sister.

She is not available for adoption at this time because she has a heart murmur which requires further evaluation. The vet feels that she was probably born with it. She has an appointment at the specialist next week for an ultrasound. If it is not life threatening, she can then be spayed and will be made available for adoption. The family that is interested in Red, is also interested in adopting her when she becomes available.

Rescue Efforts for Red Updated

Red has now been neutered and is ready for adoption! He has grown up to be a beautiful dog.

He has such a sweet demeanor and loves to go for long walks. Everyone at the vets office fell in love with him. His fur is long and thick and his tail is bushy. He looks so regal when he walks with it curled over his back. I wish I could get a photo of it.

There is a family that is interested in adopting him, so he will recover from his surgery here with me, then he may be going home to a new family. I will miss him being here but I will be able to visit him as I do all of the family that has been adopted.

Goldilocks and Ashley in New Home

As a pup, Goldilocks hung back, staying mostly with her father. I called her Goldilocks because she would go from food bowl to food bowl.

It was hard to tell the difference between Ashley and Floppy until Floppy got a large tick attached to the top of her right ear and it flopped over. Ashley got her name after she was in the pen. She must have been playing in the area where there were some ashes and one morning when I went out to feed them she had ashes on her forehead.

Goldilocks and Ashley were adopted by a very special family. They came out everyday for 2 weeks to allow Goldilocks and Ashley to get to know them, before they took them home. They helped me to keep the area around the pen treated for mosquitoes. They built a special outside pen for them and slept outside in a trailer to be close to them at night. I knew they were going to be happy and have a forever loving home!

Now the girls live inside and I am pretty sure they are spoiled rotten! I am so grateful to this family for providing them with such a good home! And they love their new family so very much!

Rescue Efforts for "Pops"

This is "Pops" or "Pop". He is the daddy and is 2 years old. We are not sure if he is a white husky or a white shepherd. He is a gently giant.

"Pop" would never come up for food, he would accompany "momma" but would keep watch over her from the edge of the woods. When "momma" was finished, they would leave together. He kept watch and protected his family every time they came for food. It was late May or June before he would himself, would eat.

He is leash trained and house trained. He was adopted out within the first 2 weeks and they kept him 4 months. But they kept him outside on a chain in the yard during the day, so I got him back. In addition, they never took him to a vet, so he never received a wellness exam.

I feel that he was probably abused by the original owner because he is extremely nervous around new people.

Since I have gotten him back, he will no longer stay in the pen with the others. He does not tolerate them attempting to play with him, so I keep him inside. He has some stuffed animal toys that he loves to play with and has never torn them. He has never had an accident in my house either!

I took him in for a wellness exam and he is current on all vaccinations. Unfortunately, he contracted heart worms. The vet did start him on Iverheart and I have the funds for heart worm treatment, but because he does not stay outside with the others, he needs a new home more immediately. I can not keep him inside my home for too long. Even though he is not destructive, I take care of a special needs child on weekends which I can not do while "pop" is here.
